International & US Patients
International Patients
Care that
crosses borders.
Patients and referring physicians from the United States and around the world regularly partner with Initio for imaging and therapies that may not be readily available — or easily scheduled — where they live. Our team guides you through every step, from first inquiry to post-treatment follow-up with your home physician.

Why patients travel
A combination that is rare anywhere.
Initio’s facility in Burnaby, British Columbia offers fully integrated multi-modality imaging, an in-house radiopharmacy, and on-site targeted therapy — staffed by clinicians with deep experience across both private and academic public-sector medicine. International and US patients most commonly come to us for:
PET/CT with advanced tracers, including diagnostic scans used to confirm eligibility for radioligand therapy.
For metastatic prostate cancer and neuroendocrine tumors, delivered by our specialized nuclear medicine team in private treatment suites.
Comprehensive screening for executives, frequent travelers, and families seeking proactive care under one roof.
When a domestic scan has produced ambiguous or insufficient results.
What to expect
From first inquiry to home again.
Your appointments, scans, and any therapy are scheduled together to minimize time away from home.
Our clinical coordination team reviews your case, confirms the records and imaging we’ll need, and connects you with the appropriate Initio physician.
Before you travel, you meet — in person or by video — with the Initio specialist who will oversee your care, to review your history and discuss what is possible.
We recommend accommodations near our Burnaby facility. Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is roughly thirty minutes away.
Scans and any therapy are scheduled together, with private rooms for tracer uptake and infusion, and multilingual staff where needed.
We coordinate directly with your referring physician, transmitting all imaging, reports, and recommendations securely to your home team.
For US patients
Often closer than you think.
US patients and their referring oncologists, urologists, and primary-care physicians regularly work with Initio.
Timely access to imaging and therapeutic appointments — decisive for time-sensitive care pathways.
For the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Western states, Burnaby is often closer than the nearest US theranostics center.
Transparent out-of-pocket pricing. We provide documentation to support insurance claims, though we do not bill insurance directly.
We coordinate directly with your home team, sharing all imaging and reports through secure, encrypted channels.
For referring physicians abroad
You retain primary care.
When you refer a patient to Initio, you retain primary responsibility for their care — we provide the diagnostic or therapeutic service and return full reports to you.
Speak with the Initio clinician who will see your patient, before or after the visit.
All imaging and reports transmitted in the format you request — DICOM, PDF, or secure portals.
For multi-cycle therapy, we coordinate the scheduling and reporting rhythm with your practice.
